Updated every semester

Beginning with the 2011-2012 school year, membership within the Environmental Coalition will be based upon a 3-point system. To be considered a member, you must earn 3 points prior to the end of the spring 2012 semester. To gain these points, there are two options:

1. Attend 3 EC events (1 point each)
2. Attend 1 event (1 point) and participate in a project group (2 points)

By becoming a member, you will have to opportunity to attend an end of the year celebration, receive a discount on the EC t-shirt, and be reported in our official membership count sent to VT administration. More information on the end of year celebration will be announced in the spring semester.

Events

Events within the Environmental Coalition will include social events, educational events, and volunteering events such as (but not limited to):

• Potlucks
• Camping Trips
• Hikes
• Earth Week
• Virginia PowerShift (each workshop will count as 1 event)
• Relay For Life
• The Big Event
• Sustainability Week
• Eco-Olympics
• New River Cleanups
• Tree Plantings

Project Groups

Each semester, the EC plans events and changes things on campus by utilizing project groups. Each project group works on a specific project, such as receipt recycling, marketing for Earth Week, etc. By participating in a project group, you are expected to attend meetings both in and out of regular EC meetings, as well as actively keep in contact and help all members in achieving the group’s goal. In order to receive 2 points of project group participation, you must actively participate in the project group. Project leaders will explain in more detail about what is expected.

Accountability

Each event will have a sign in sheet available for potential members to sign in. Once a potential member has reached 3 points, they will be added to the member list which is posted on the EC website. If you believe you have all 3 points and your name is not listed on the website, please FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW. Please note that events will generally take about a week to be entered in, so if you attended an event, please allow about a week for your name to be entered on the website.
